Fish Information

We specialize in Small Mouth Bass; which is the most predominate fish in our area. Pound for pound the small mouth bass gives a hard fight to the net.

WalleyeWalleye fishing is best in the cooler water months. From ice out in March to mid May and October through December seem to be the best if water conditions are good. These fish run hot and cold.

Channel Cats can be caught most anytime of the fishing season with some 10 pound to 15 pound fish being caught. A big channel cat is tough on light tackle.

muskyPike and Musky are more of a bonus in the 70 miles of river that we fish. We get several during the season; however, many hours are needed to get one fish. There are many other fish that we catch during the season.

Rock Bass are a small hard fighting fish that is good to eat.

Carp are large bottom feeding fish, 10 to 30 pounds, that are caught in shallow water. They are a great fighter but poor in taste.

Suckers: several varieties of these are caught mostly in cooler water

We also get some bullheads & bluegills, I suggest that you do not set your sights on one type of fish when booking your trip. River fishing changes week to week, along with weather conditions, water depth, water clarity and drift speed. Sometimes certain fish species will not feed actively under certain conditions. I will guarantee that you will catch a fish or you do not pay anything for your trip; however, I do not want to disappoint you if you do not catch the one species you are after, that is fishing.

Everybody always asks "When is the best time to come fishing" We catch fish everyday so when you can come will be the best. The weekdays will have the least boating pressure, sometimes we don't see another boat all day.
However, as a rule of thumb, fish with teeth, or Walleye, Pike, and Musky do bite better in cool to cold water. When it comes to smallmouth as a rule you consistently will get bigger but less fish in cool water, and higher numbers but smaller fish in warm water. There are always exceptions to the rule.
